Abstract

The progress and success of any nation are heavily reliant on the formulation and efficient implementation of suitable education legislation. As a result, the majority of governments worldwide prioritize educational policies as tools for fostering national growth. Several problems in the Nigerian environment impede the implementation of education policies, negatively affecting academic performance despite the importance of policy formulation. The paper used secondary sources of data, including existing literature and document reviews, to analyze and identify the factors that hinder education policy formulation in Nigeria. These factors, among others, include institutional inadequacies, a lack of professionalism, and inadequate personnel. This hindered the prospects of attaining educational policy objectives. Therefore, it is advisable to enhance institutional capacities, hire competent and qualified individuals, and ensure full participation of relevant stakeholders in the construction of educational institutions. Experts believe that supporting the creation of high-quality educational policies and ensuring their successful implementation is an effective way to achieve academic excellence.
